ABOUT
Chase Dog Training is a Kennel Club Listed club run by Lead Instructor Anne Herbert who has been training dogs and their owners in the Stafford area for over 30 years. Anne is an “A” List Kennel Club Good Citizens Dog Scheme Assessor from Bronze to Gold level and has assessed at many events including local dog training clubs, National Dog Shows and Crufts. She has owned Terriers, Labradors and Dalmatians over the years, all from puppyhood except one Dalmatian who was a re-homed dog. He probably taught Anne more about “dog behaviour” than any dog before or since! He eventually became the most wonderful companion and is fondly remembered despite all the trials and tribulations. Anne’s dogs have taken part in obedience, agility, flyball, dancing with dogs and Rally obedience, with some of them taking part in competition and local and national demonstrations. She also has an interest in gundog training and is currently owned by two working type labradors!
Instructors:
We have an experienced team who assist as necessary, namely:
Ellen Stewart – KC GCDS “A” List Assessor – Bronze to Gold
Kelly Rickards – KC GCDS “A” List Assessor – Bronze to Gold
Anna Walker – KC GCDS “A” List Assessor – Bronze to Gold
Andrea Harvey – Assistant Instructor
Jacquie Partridge – Assistant Instructor
Karen Munday – Administrator (Karen generally keeps us in order and ensures our Puppy Foundation paperwork is completed satisfactorily each class!)
Over the years Chase Instructors have taken part in various activities with their own dogs including dog obedience, agility, flyball, dancing with dogs, rally obedience and gundog training. They have also been members of a number of demonstration teams at various local events and also some National events such as The Manchester Pet Show, Belvior Game Fair and Crufts. Understanding how to motivate dogs and keep them active both mentally and physically is an essential requirement in order to take part in such demanding events. All of their dogs have completed the KC GCDS scheme and they can therefore commend this scheme to you as it provides a structured way to train your dog, be they family pet or aspiring agility competitor! Owners can be assured that the methods we use are kind, reward based and motivational as required by the Kennel Club Code of Practice for Listed Status Clubs. Training at Level 2 will sometimes incorporate elements of the above activities just to keep it fun and challenging for both handler and dog.
Puppy and Level 1 classes are limited in number to ensure a good instructor to client ratio.
We are always able to advise on good quality accessories to help train your dog and can arrange for ID Tags to be purchased from our supplier – usually cheaper than local shops. To comply with the The Control of Dogs Order 1992 all dogs should have a name tag attached to their collar with the following information : owner’s name, full postal address and postcode. Although not required by law, you should also include your contact telephone numbers. We do not recommend you put your dog’s name on its tag but it may be wise to indicate your female dog is spayed by including that word on her tag.
Dogs attending any of our classes will be scanned for their microchip at the beginning of each course and when taking Assessments and we always recommend that you regularly have them checked at your pet’s annual vet check to ensure they are still working.
